Center for Advanced Medical Simulation

The Center for Advanced Medical Simulation of the San Luigi Gonzaga Teaching Center, created with the contribution of Compagnia di San Paolo, is located in a space of about 240 square meters within the University of Turin Teaching Center of the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital. It is equipped with state-of-the-art simulation systems, hi-tech mannequins simulating the adult and pediatric patient and the most innovative multimedia systems.

In the three rooms of the Center for Advanced Medical Simulation, several high-fidelity simulation tools are available to students and specialists, including the latest virtual arthroscopy and laparoscopy simulators that allow the acquisition and improvement of minimally invasive surgical procedures. A simulation room, set up as an intensive care unit and equipped with the most advanced mannequins on the market, allows learners to perform clinical procedures in high-fidelity simulation sessions, managed and monitored by a control room connected with one-way mirrors, cameras and environmental audio systems. Finally, a meeting room allows the planning and the review of the activities carried out in simulation.
The Center for Advanced Medical Simulation also holds the most advanced anatomical table for the virtual dissection of the human body, already used by many of the most important schools and educational institutes in the world. This tool will enable students to study human anatomy exactly as if it were a real corpse, with the support of an interactive touchscreen that allows a level of exploration and learning higher than any other traditional system available.
